Five officials of a non-governmental organization (NGO) have been arrested and sent to prison for allegedly beating to death an accountant of a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Tangail. The police sent them to jail through the court on Saturday evening.
Earlier on Friday late night, the police recovered the body of the person from the side of the head office of the private organization 'Social Advancement Through Unity' (Setu) on Sadar Road in Tangail city. His name is Hasan Ali (23). He is the son of Abdul Latif of Puthia village of Ullapara police station of Sirajganj. Hasan was the assistant accountant of the NGO's Pierpur branch in Jamalpur.
The five arrested are the son of the organization's executive director Mirza Shahadat Hossain and the organization's deputy director (human resources) Mirza Sakib Hossain, deputy director Md. Rafiqul Islam and Md. Shariful Islam, program manager Khairul Hasan and support staff Rashedul Islam.
Talking to the officials of the organization, it is said that the Regional Manager, Manager and Assistant Accountant of the Pierpur branch of the organization conspired to embezzle about 43 lakh rupees. In this incident, three people were brought to the head office in Tangail on September 16. The senior officers of the organization questioned them about embezzlement of money. Later the regional manager was released but the manager and accountant Hasan Ali was kept in a room on the seventh floor. On September 18, Hasan's parents were called to the office and informed about the matter.
Late last night, the police recovered Hasan's body from the west side of Setu Tower, the head office of the organization on Sadar Road in Tangail city. Relatives alleged that Hassan's body was thrown after being beaten to death. Later he wants to continue saying suicide. However, the officials of the organization claim that Hasan committed 'suicide' by jumping from the seventh floor on Friday night. Immediately after the incident, five officers of the company were taken into custody and questioned by the police.
Hasan's father Abdul Latif said, 'My son was beaten to death. Later it is spreading that he committed suicide. I got a call from Setu office on Friday night saying that your son is sick and in the hospital. you come Later, the police station informed about Hasan's death.
Sufia Begum, the mother of the deceased Hasan Ali, filed a murder case at the Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff yesterday evening. In addition to mentioning the names of five people detained in the case, some unknown people have been accused. The police arrested five people in the case and sent them to jail.
Setu Deputy Director (Administration) Bimal Chakraborty told Prothom Alo that the manager and assistant accountant of Pierpur branch were attached to the main branch on charges of embezzlement. During the interrogation, they admitted to embezzling the money. A room is provided for them to stay on the seventh floor of the office. Hasan committed suicide last night by jumping from there.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanbir Ahmed said Hasan had injury marks on his head. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Five people have been arrested in this incident.
